Port of Aberdeen

Harbour Information, Terminals and Facilities
(Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, UK)

Aberdeen's port is one of the busiest ports in the United Kingdom and is the principal commercial harbour for the northeast of Scotland. The port welcomes more than 9,000 visiting ships and receives about four million tonnes of cargo per year. Additionally, it is also the main east coast ferry port and port-of-call for cruise ships.

The facilities at the terminal are limited to a supermarket and a coffee shop.

The terminal provides good amenities for disabled travellers, but visitors with special needs should contact Northlink Ferries for further information prior to their arrival at the terminal. Likewise, those who need help with boarding should call Northlink Ferries on: +44 1224 589111.

The port of Aberdeen is well connected by road, rail and air, due to its excellent transportation infrastructure. The city of Aberdeen boasts many restaurants and accommodation facilities. It also has plenty of attractions to offer visitors.

Ferry Services

Northlink Ferries provide five weekly sailings to Lerwick, on the Shetland Islands; the duration of the voyage is 1 hour, 30 minutes. There are three weekly crossings to Kirkwall, with the sea voyage taking about 6 hours. Both passengers and freight can be transported by these services.

The ferries provide safe and comfortable crossings and are designed to the highest standards. Self-service eateries and à la carte restaurants offer a wide range of fine foods. Every ferry boasts a large lounge area, dedicated play area for kids, café and luxurious en-suite cabins. On longer routes, a modern movie theatre presents the most recent releases.
